The Total Package

For small business owners and marketing agencies alike, seizing every branding opportunity is a must. And that includes packaging – use it to your advantage. As you begin to concept and design your tuck flap box for online printing, consider how it coordinates with your product or your brand as a whole. Custom packaging that truly fits the product? That’s a strategy for serious success.

With three sizes to choose from, Roll End Boxes join our three Tuck Box offerings to give you a wide range of options to suit whatever you’re packaging. Whether you’re selling handmade artisanal products, marketing custom playing cards or sending media kits to business partners, our array of custom boxes ensures your presentation impresses.

And speaking of presentation, Roll End Boxes are exactly that – they’re not for shipping or mailing. Think of them as the proverbial bow on your product or gift.

Hint: Wondering about assembly? Since Roll End Boxes ship flat, all you need to do is fold on the scoring and tuck. Go a step further and add a product label for extra security and one more branding moment. See how.

So you’ve got specific products? We’ve got specific sizes. Take a look at our product recommendations for each size of Roll End Box before you design and print your custom packaging:

Boxes Your Way

Once you’ve got the size sorted out, it’s time to customize. This is where your creativity gets to shine, while keeping the customer experience in mind. Printed on single layer cardstock, each roll end tuck box is totally recyclable, which sends another message to your customer about how you do business.

The cardstock can also be printed on the inside and out. Easy to be overlooked but big on impact (and ROI), double-sided printing takes your packaging to another level. As your own personal online printing shop, we can’t recommend it enough!

Another design strategy we recommend? Add a UV coating. In subtle matte or shiny gloss, it provides a finished look and extra protection, ensuring less cracking of ink on the folds.

Hint: Assembling a media kit? Our expert Kitting Services, along with shrink wrapping for stationery and more, are available via Custom Quote.

Roll End Box Design Tips

As a premium online printer, we help clients create and print exquisite custom packaging every day. Here are some of our favorite design tips:

1. Reserve the bigger surfaces for your product name and branding.

  • If your product will be on a retail shelf, design with the front in mind so your brand gets noticed without customers having to turn the box and read the side panels.
  • Use a bold design on the front for branding and keep the side and back panels for more intricate info, specs, barcode (UPC), ingredients, etc.
  • Consider including an image of your product on the packaging so people don’t have to open it to know what’s inside.
  • Make sure your font size is legible. Small packaging means small font, but make sure it’s readable.
  • Use high color to make your design stand out.

2. Make a paper mockup for 3D objects.

  • Before submitting your order, print out the roll end box template on the product page. Cut it out and fold it to understand the scale and functionality of your design to ensure everything is legible.

3. Leverage labels and stickers to add to the branding.

  • Design them to show your logo, depict pricing, list more information or hold the top lid closed more securely.
  • Pro Tip: Timely info or ingredients might change. Don’t reprint your entire box – just update it with labels or stickers. This keeps your box design evergreen and your budget in check since updating variable information on stickers is less expensive.
  • It’s also a more sustainable choice. Instead of tossing outdated packaging, design stickers to maintain your inventory and be less wasteful (they have a faster turn time, too).

4. Add a package insert to your box.

  • We recommend adding an insert to thank your customer, add a splash of branding or personalization, depict how-to info, offer a discount code for future orders, cross-sell another product, etc.
  • Not sure what to include? Take a look at this: Packaging Inserts: 7 Ideas (& Tips) to Increase Engagement.

5. Print inside and out.

  • Seriously. Don’t sleep on this design option! We’ve already mentioned it once but it’s worth repeating. It’s such a simple way to make your branding hit home or create a surprising, memorable opening experience.
