The color! Our graphic design tips wouldn&#8217;t be complete with that, and you might be surprised just <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/blog\/features\/color-psychology-how-to-use-it-for-marketing-sales\">how crucial the right color palette can be<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When choosing yours, one thing to consider is the emotion or action you want to elicit from the recipient. If you want an awareness campaign to appeal to people\u2019s emotions, you might choose a cool palette. If you want a marketing campaign to result in sales, a warm palette might add an energetic spark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not sure which colors to choose? It\u2019s easy to pick the one that\u2019s right for your project, as long as you know what you\u2019re designing for before you begin: the page or the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For print projects you\u2019re designing with an online printer like Smartpress, you\u2019ll want <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/support\/color-ink\/color-space\">CMYK<\/a>. It uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black to create the colors you want when printing. It\u2019s a basic element that can make a big impact on your printed piece or digital graphics. With proper alignment, you get a professional look instead of a disorganized one. You can align your elements in different ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Horizontal<\/strong><ul><li>The left, right or both margins are equal.<\/li><li>Great for specific elements or an entire page.<\/li><li>Look out for \u201crag,\u201d or an uneven margin.<ul><li>For example: A text column is left justified and each line ends at a different length, creating uneven white space. You can fix this by making manual line breaks.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Vertical<\/strong><ul><li>Design elements are lined up with the top, bottom or both margins.<\/li><li>Great for a specific design or an entire page.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Edge<\/strong><ul><li>Elements are lined up with each other\u2019s top, bottom or side edges.<\/li><li>This option is not affected by the page margin.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>Center<\/strong><ul><li>Elements are aligned along the center axis.<\/li><li>This option is not ideal for designs with a lot of text &#8211; each line begins in a different place and can decrease readability.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Hint:<\/strong> <\/em>Take advantage of grids and rulers in <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/support\/file-preparation\/editing-files-with-photoshop-indesign-more\">workspaces<\/a> like InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to get your alignment just right.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"waypoint t-sink s-sink\" id=\"work-with-white-space\">\n    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work with White Space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Also referred to as negative space, white space can get a bad rap. But depending on your design and intention, it\u2019s not always a bad thing. We recommend making good use of white space to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Increase readability. The more white space you have, the easier it is to see and focus on your content.<\/li><li>Create a clean look and add balance and symmetry to your design.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"waypoint t-sink s-sink\" id=\"above-all-be-consistent\">\n    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Above All, Be Consistent<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>No matter what you\u2019re designing, consistency is key. It helps you differentiate campaigns and can even ensure you and your business stand apart from other brands. So how do you do it?
