If you have Acrobat Standard or Acrobat Professional, you can also create high-quality PDFs using the Adobe PDF printer driver from almost any program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can use the built-in PDF-making functionality of Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows or Adobe PDF printer driver.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For Mac, use the Adobe PDF printer driver in any product other than Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign. If you do not have that:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to Print Your File<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the PDF button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose Save as PDF-X-4<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you do not have the PDF-X option, choose the highest print quality PDF.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"waypoint t-sink s-sink\" id=\"pdfs-from-indesign\">\n    \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Create and Export PDFs From InDesign<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be sure that you\u2019ve updated Adobe InDesign to the most current version. (We do not recommend versions prior to CS2.)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure your document contains the appropriate <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/support\/printing-basics\/bleed-borders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bleed<\/a> on your print project, and set your document size to the same width and height as your final printed piece. When creating or editing document settings, set bleed to 0.125\u2033 on all sides. Since Photoshop doesn\u2019t support bleed settings like InDesign and Illustrator, you will have to add bleed to the final width and height of your document:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Choose Image &gt; Canvas Size<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In New Size, choose Relative and keep the Anchor centered<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set the Width and Height values to 0.25 and choose Inches for both. For more information on bleeds, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/support\/printing-basics\/bleed-borders\">Bleed &amp; Borders<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bleeds of 1\/8\u2033 are required on anything small like <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/shop\/business-card-printing\">business cards<\/a>, flyers, <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/offering\/brochure-printing\">brochures<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/offering\/sell-sheet-printing\">sell sheets<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/offering\/direct-mail-newsletters\">newsletters<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/smartpress.com\/shop\/custom-booklets\">custom booklets<\/a>. Click OK to confirm and you are now ready to create your design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your design is completed you will need to create a PDF:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to File &gt; Print and select your Adobe PDF printer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open the Options, choose High-Quality Print and click Print<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You now have a high-resolution PDF from Word that includes bleed. If you open the PDF in Acrobat, you will see the document size is 8.75\u201d x 11.25\u201d (along the bottom of the window). This means the final trim will take 1\/8&#8243; off each side to make 8.5\u201d x 11\u201d, which meets the requirements of your commercial printer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Open your PDF and review it. Adobe Acrobat Reader is recommended for previewing. If you need to, <a href=\"https:\/\/get.adobe.com\/reader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">download Adobe Acrobat Reader<\/a> for free.
